Parsha ~
Vayakhel: Moses reminds the Israelites to rest
on the Sabbath. Then he asks for gifts to be
used to build the Tabernacle. The Israelites
bring so many materials for the construction
that Moses tells them to stop. Using the precise
instructions given by God, the Tabernacle is
built. Bezalel and Oholiab construct all the
parts, including the lamp, oil, incense, alter,
poles, utensils, and menorah.
Pikuday: The Tabernacle is completed, and the
priests’ garments are made. Moses blesses the
congregation and is told by God to erect the
Tabernacle on the first day of the first month
and to anoint Aaron and his sons. Moses does so.
The cloud of God fills the Tabernacle. When the
cloud is lifted, it is a sign to the Israelites
to break camp and travel. The cloud of God stays
with the Israelites on their journeys—it is a
cloud by day and a fire by night.

Weekly Shabbat Services ~
The Kehillah offers weekly Friday night services from 7-8 p.m. when we welcome
Shabbat with a song-filled and spiritual service. We sit in a circle of chairs,
sing the beautiful Friday night liturgy and share English responsive readings.
This service is followed by an oneg dessert.
Saturday morning services begin at 9:45 a.m.
During the service, we join together for songs of praise, the Torah and Haftorah
reading and a thought-provoking d’var discussion. The service ends around noon
and is followed by a kiddush luncheon during which we enjoy Shabbat schmoozing.
~ Shabbat Shira: A
Song-ful Shabbat Service ~
Shabbat
Shira, a monthly musical service, brings the Kehillah
community together for a dynamic Shabbat morning celebration that
features
a song-filled service with guitar, dancing, and a big dose of ruach (spirit).
An offshoot of the Kehillah’s popular Shabbat
Shira Havdalah program, Shabbat Shira provides a
gateway to spirituality through song. Additional
service components include fewer aliyot,
contemporary readings, and a mix of modern and
traditional melodies.
~ Tot Shabbat ~
Our preschool hosts monthly Tot Shabbat services for children. Tot Shabbat is a
hands-on, musical and movement-oriented service for infants through 5 year olds
and their families. The service includes Shabbat songs as well as the basic
liturgy of Shabbat morning. Afterwards, families gather together for kiddush. On
months with Shabbat B'yachad, Tot Shabbat is often scheduled on the same day so
that all families can participate together.
